Durham Regatta (11th-12th June 2005)

The most prestigious event of the our calendar. This year will be the 171st running of the event, first held in 1834 and the second oldest in the country. New for this year are the Championship events held over the long course. Large plasma screens will be showing the whole races live -great for watching the racing on Sunday afternoon when you've long been knocked out.

The Legendary Shincliffe Challenge (7th June 2005)

Head race in Brown's boats to Shincliffe Bridge, just past Maiden Castle footbridge. Neck a pint in the pub and back to HB. More beer for the winners. Refreshing break from the training for Durham Regatta.

Hexham Regatta (4th June 2005) - Draw

On the river Tyne 20 miles to the west of Newcastle, Hexham Regatta is the last  warm up event before Durham Regatta. A chance to get some more pots in the trophy cabinet and this year, the inaugural Universities and Colleges Victor Ludorum trophy, will be award to the club with the most race wins through out the day. Also the 1min men's and women's ergo championships and sumo suit wrestling fun to be had.

Durham City Regatta (7th-8th May 2005)

Well done to all those still able to row after college day. Especially the Novice men's and women's VIII's who both won categories, despite their respective stroke's the heading up the list of the most drunk people the day before. In winning, the novice men's VIII can now lay claim to being the HB 2nd VIII, and push the previous 2nd VIII down to 3rd! Never mind boys!

BUSA Regatta (30th April - 1st May 2005)

Well done to also those who travelled down to Nottingham (twice) -understandably not wanting to spend a night at the midlands dogging capital. Finally congratulations to the Vicky and the Women Lightweight 4- who got bronze and also to Tom, for bronze in the Lightweight Men's double. Results available here.

DCR Exec Election (29th April 2005)

Belated congratz to Malcom on becoming the new DCR Secretary.

To Quote Adam (27th April 2005)
"I will explain the orange-ness. I got v sunburnt. However a solution to the problem has been decided upon whereby, the use of..tan maximiser.

After dousing myself in the contents far far too much (on the hour, every hour!).. in the hope that it would prevent..a mangy faint orange tinge, but i realised..tan maximiser is nother more than..fake tan. this combined with my over-endulgence has led to the obscure colouring you now see before you (and there are witnesses to support this claim!)"

Boat Club Web Shop (26th April 2005)

Buy all you online purchases through http://buy.at/HildBedeBoatClub and the club will get a percentage to put towards new equipment! In particular, if you apply to these companies

Accucard, Capital One, Egg Card, Lloyds Bank, Scottish Widows the club would receive up to £90!!! If everyone did it we could buy a BRAND NEW VIII. If you can be arsed with that (why not?), then at least request brochures from Canvas Holidays and Brochure Bank and the club get £1.15.

New Official Website Online (12th April 2005)

The Official HBBC website is now back online with a new look! It can be seen here -or follow your old bookmarks if you prefer. Remember to register as a member, to get full access -No credit card required!

Pre Season Training Camp (17th-24th April 2005)

"rowing stands alone, in that the exercise in the boat, in addition to walking, is all that is required to get the oarsman fit. No ball-punching exercises or dumb-bells should be practiced during actual training. Walking and the boat will do all that is required."

-Captains take note!

Men's Head of the River Race (19th March 2005)

Will be at the Duke's Head, near Putney Bridge from about 1pm. A few of the big guns shall be returning, to demonstrate how their drinking prowess has diminished since graduating. The Novice boys will be taking their punishments for every 15 seconds they finish behind the fastest HB crew! And there is the potential, for the final instalment of another famous trilogy...

Come and give a cheer from Hammersmith Bridge if you're around!

Post Card From Gimli (16th March 2005)

Dear All.

Hope all rowing is going fine, looking forward to HoRR!

Well sod that for difficult, I have just done completed the hardest thing I have ever done, 100km trek through the Andies with a 30kg backpack, living on beanfeast and rice!

Good luck to all of you, if its too late for HoRR, for the summer including exams!

New Exec Elected (11th March 2005)

Congratulations to all those elected on Friday. Hopefully another successful year under a new and 'improved' exec to come! We look forward to the first socials the new Social Sec and respective Captains. (And of course Ferret's out going social!). Ps: Maybe the new Website Manager should look into getting copyrights!

Women's Head of the River Race (5th March 2005)

Well done to both crew for finishing the race and getting back safely. Especially in light of the Cuth's Novice 8+ little incident with the infamous Black Buoy. Most amusing. Luckily all escaped unharmed!

Details of HB's exploits to follow. If a girlie or rent boy cares to write anything!
